Lexus LS

Lexus LS (sold as the LS 430 and in Japan as the Toyota Celsior as well as the forthcoming LS 460) is a Japanese rear wheel drive luxury car with a V8 engine serves as the flagship of Toyota's luxury Lexus division. A length of almost five meters (200") gives LS a large car classification in Europe as well as in the United States. According to reviews Lexus LS 400 has one of the most silent cabins of modern cars, and ride comfort is well accepted. Though often said not to be as sporty as German competitors such as the BMW 7 Series, it is sometimes hailed as one of the most well-engineered and technologically advanced vehicles in the High End luxury car segment.

The exterior design of the LS is often perceived as untypical for a luxury car. It differentiates from the rest of the luxury car market by its rather ordinary looks. While most luxury car designs do their best to separate themselves from the competition, the LS looks like many other larger Japanese sedans.

First generation UF10 (1989)

The LS UF10 I was produced from 1989-1994. The LS 400 was Wheels magazine's Car of the Year and made Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1990. The LS400 introduced the Lexus nameplate to the U.S. The LS400 was initally supposed to be introduced as a stand alone model for Lexus. But that idea was quickly changed with the entry level ES250 which was derived from the Toyota Camry.

For the 1993 model year the UF10 II was introduced with larger brake rotors, standard passenger-side front airbags, larger wheels and tires, and numerous other upgrades.

Second generation UF20 (1995)

The first redesign (UF20 III) was introduced in 1995, improving on brake system durability and featuring a new body that eliminated 300 pounds from the previous car. The wheelbase was increased by 1.4 inches, resulting in more interior and trunk space. The overall length of the car remained at 196.7 inches.

The design, which orginally dated back to 1993 received several minor upgrades. The front facia was facelifted with new headlights and an increased distance between the headlights and the grille, which now featured a slightly more rounded countour.
