Renault vehicle sales slip in Sept, keeps 2007 target

(Adding further breakdown of sales; outlook for Q4, FY)

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Renault (other-otc: RNSDY.PK - news - people ) SA said worldwide group sales rose 6.4 pct in the third quarter compared to the year-earlier period, but fell 2.8 pct in September.

For the third quarter, the French car maker said worldwide sales for its Renault brand increased 5.6 pct and Dacia sales were up 20.2 pct, while those of Renault Samsung Motors slipped 1.5 pct.

In Europe, third-quarter sales were flat, giving Renault a market share of 8.2 pct.

Outside Europe, sales grew 20.9 pct in the quarter, including 20.8 pct growth in the Americas, 15.4 pct in the Euromed region, and 14.7 pct in Asia-Africa.

In September, worldwide Renault sales fell 0.8 pct, Dacia sales dropped 7.5 pct and Renault Samsung Motors' plunged 24.6 pct.

In Europe, September group sales fell 6.5 pct to 125.496 units, yielding a market share of 7.7 pct.

In a separate announcement, automobile association ACEA said new car registrations for the Renault brand fell 10.5 pct in Europe last month.

The company said that Dacia sales in Europe jumped 86 pct last month.

Outside Europe, September sales rose 8.6 pct in the Euromed region, 30.2 pct in the Americas, and 6.7 pct in Asia-Africa.

For the current quarter, Renault said it is expecting worldwide sales of its vehicles to increase, 'with growth quickening toward year-end'.

The company cited the launch of the new Laguna, which will go on sale in 15 European countries this month.

It said this expected fourth-quarter performance will allow it to achieve its objective of a slight increase in full-year sales for 2007.
