Arrow Delo?® 400 LE?„? Gains Mercedes Benz Approval

SAN RAMON, Calif.-(Business Wire)-March 7, 2007 - Chevron Delo(R) 400 LE(TM) Multigrade SAE 15W-40 has received formulation approval for Mercedes Benz (MB) diesel engine oil specification 228.31, covering all Mercedes-Benz diesel engines using Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs). Chevron Delo 400 LE, which already meets MB 228.3, was approved for the new specification without reformulation. MB 228.31 approval requires running the full suite of API CJ-4 tests, plus passing two additional engine tests developed by Mercedes Benz; MB OM611 and OM441LA.

In North America, the specific application for MB 228.31 is the increasingly popular Sprinter van, such as those marketed under the Freightliner and Dodge brands. These vehicles are typically used in the light-duty truck market for delivery companies as well as shuttle buses and trade vehicles.

"Because Delo 400 LE is formulated using our advanced additive technology and Group II base stock, it did not require modification to meet the stringent performance demands of Mercedes Benz 228.31," said Jim McGeehan, global manager, Diesel Engine Oil Technology, Chevron Global Lubricants. "Delo delivers industry leading engine protection, allowing maximum performance for fleets operating Mercedes Benz powered Sprinter vans."

Oils meeting MB 228.31 demonstrate improved environmental behavior through compatibility with EPA 2007 requirements in the U.S., Euro IV and V in Europe, with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) or Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR).

MB OM611 and OM441LA address a number of performance criteria, including boost pressure lost, bore polishing, cam wear, cylinder wear, engine sludge, general engine deposits, oil consumption, piston ring wear, deposits and cleanliness, ring sticking, timing chain wear and viscosity increase at 100 Celsius.

Delo(R) 400 LE Multigrade SAE 15W-40

Delo 400 LE exceeds the performance standards of API CI-4 Plus oils, specifically in areas of wear control for valve-train, bearing and ring-liners, oxidation control, soot dispersancy, piston deposit control and oil consumption control.
