help with elctricals on 1989 delta van

Hello to all. I own a classic 1989 Daihatsu Delta diesel high top van- what a beauty!! This week the indicators went down and for the life of me I cannot find the flasher unit. I have had several bits of advice on its whereabouts, from in or near the fuse box to behind the steering column and I have been under both sides of the dash with everything from flashlights to magnifying glasses, even took out the glovebox to get a better view behind it, but to no avail- can anyone help me please before I either tear my hair out or resort to pulling the dash out completely.....?????/thanks.
