Lightbulb Stage 2 ****ter in first gear

I have a 2002 Subaru WRX with an Exedy Stage 2 clutch and flywheel. Launches are very difficult (even soft launches) with this clutch. I find that if I am stopped and in neutral, then shift into first and try to go, it is very difficult to get the car to take off smoothly. No matter how fast/slow I try letting out the clutch or to what RPM I rev it to, it always seems to either grind or make this terrible shake until it fully engages. However, I have figured out that while coming to a stop, if I hold the clutch in and keep it disengaged but in gear until I need to go again, it takes off smooth as can be. Being that I'm a city driver, I don't want to sit on the clutch all day so I need to know why the clutch is the way it is / what can I do differently.
